Julie Pastro for Senate

From as far back as she can remember, Julie has loved animals. She has always tried to help them where she can by rescuing and caring for injured wild birds, fostering dogs, contributing financially and volunteering for various animal protection agencies as well as trying her best to look after local wildlife.

Several years ago, Julie watched an exposé on the cruelty forced upon horses by the Australian racehorse industry. It triggered her to do further research into the many ways industries exploit animals and as a result, she has become even more impassioned. She went vegan, joined the Animal Justice Party, organised a protest at Morphettville Racecourse on Adelaide Cup Day, volunteered at multiple animal sanctuaries, has done some outreach to inform the public of the atrocities of the animal agriculture industry and best of all, she adopted her two big, beautiful rescue dogs Rosco and Archie!

In her spare time, Julie enjoys early morning walks along the coast, reading, creating artworks, spending time with her family and laughing with her four kids.
