Ren Ryba for Morphett

Ren Ryba is a marine scientist and animal activist dedicated to advocating for animals and nature by putting pressure on the state government to improve laws for the billions of animals who are victims of economic and legal systems that don’t protect them.
Ren has campaigned for animals globally, having worked professionally in the animal rights and welfare space. Ren’s background brings scientific rigor — with a doctorate in marine policy and degrees in environmental science and economics, she challenges the treatment of animals with both data-driven evidence and political strategy. Ren has also worked within the South Australian government, enabling her to understand the internal levers of legislative change.
Ren’s commitment to animal protection is personal — she is the proud parent of two special-needs rescue dogs, Max and Shiloh, as well as rescued birds and a turtle. Whether navigating high-level policy or caring for the rescues, Ren’s mission remains the same: ensuring that no animal is left behind.
