2026 will be our best opportunity yet

Often it’s a matter of being in the right place at the right time

Both federal and state parliaments have endured politicians leaving their party recently. Turmoil within other political parties is bothersome for democracy, but it’s an opportunity for Animal Justice Party. In our history, Animal Justice Party has elected five members to state parliaments in other states and none have left the party while in office.

The result of this turmoil is visible in the composition of SA state parliament right now: there is only one Greens member; only one SA-BEST; and everyone else is Labor, Liberal or independent. All independents in the upper house are those who have left other parties.

Winning a seat in the upper house in SA is possible and we currently have three across the country. Our newest parliamentarian is Amanda Dorn in WA, watch her inaugural speech here. This could be one of us next year! Let’s carry out an excellent campaign in the next state election, to be held on 21 March 2026.

How you can help right away

The financial year ends at the end of this month, so now is a great time to make a donation. Donations of up to $1,500 per year may be tax deductible, the ATO has published information here, please seek independent advice.

Why do we need donations?

Our main need right now is to run in the state election next year. If we run a candidate in every district, we will need to put up $53,000 for candidate deposits with the electoral commission. This is a tidy sum that’s achievable with crowdfunding, plus we will need funds for marketing and other expenses. Please donate to help bring us a step closer to achieving better representation for animals, people and planet.

for the animals...
